I have the club with my niece who lives out of state. It's a great way to get her to read the books. She's TOTALLY into the charm bracelet thing, and is very willing to share her stars for outfits and such.
Because I'm not "mom" and their internet is dial-up and slow, we have our messaging turned off. It's *our* special internet thing.

I bought the membership, and for me it's worth it. I really wanted some of the club stuff.

I just belong as an adult...I didn't/wouldn't invent a child. I don't get stars, and really haven't done anything but pre-order Elizabeth, and buy one club outfit!

Now if you pretend to be a child and talk with other children, as a child, that just totally ruins all the parental controls AG has tried to put into place.

I also ahve an account wiht my neice, but because she is still too young to read all the books, she quickly lost interest and it sort of became my membership.

As far as "chatting with other girls" I don't do it. I don't even ahve that feature turned on, because it would be awkward and a little creepy.

If I knew of other adults sn, that might be different, but I don't and really didn't look for them, simply choosing not to use that portion of the membership. Focusing on the activities that my neice and I can do, and actually going through the library and hunting down the books to read.

I did renew her membership this year though... when it's essentially free, how can you beat the price?

Taffy- maybe creepy isn't the right word, perhaps dishonest is what I am looking for.

The club is set up so that adults can't earn stars to spend themselves. The only reason to create a child persona is to earn stars that you can spend yourself.

Sure, it could be to use the messaging feature, but if you ahve to come to this site to find adults to message, than you don't really need to use that feature

(Actually, can adults play the games? If not, well than I guess thats a reason to make up a kid- I've heard those games are fun)

So not creepy, dishonest. It is very creepy if you are talking to kids- even if it is well meant, talking, that is passing through parents filters as clean. You should NEVER pretend to be a child to talk to a child.

I have been pondering joining the club with my little DS. The main reason is that he has tons of fun playing the little games that are available on the regular AG site, so I thought, "hey, why not be playing club games together and getting stars?" He is only 2.5 years old though (& a boy). Has anyone joined with a young child (I wouldn't send any messages with/from him, obviously)? Can you join someone so little?

I am expecting another baby in May. If it turns out to be a girl, maybe I will sign her up instead and play the games with DS until she is big enough to join us.

    Just thinking, no real plans...

    Em
